Losing the SIM card registered with your JAMB profile can feel like a major setback, especially when you need to receive OTP codes, access your CAPS dashboard, or print admission letters. But JAMB has introduced a secure and structured solution for candidates facing this issue in the 2026 UTME cycle.
The newly launched “Profiled Email” service is designed to help candidates recover access to their JAMB portal without needing the original SIM card. This service is only available at JAMB-accredited CBT centres and requires biometric verification to ensure security and prevent fraud.
Step-by-Step Guide to Recover Your JAMB Profile Without the SIM
To regain access to your JAMB portal, follow these steps:
1. Visit a JAMB-Accredited CBT Centre
You must go in person to a certified CBT centre. Cybercafés and unauthorized agents are not allowed to process this request. Ask for the TEMPL 006 Form, which is used to initiate the recovery process.
2. Fill Out the TEMPL 006 Form
Provide the following details:
- Your JAMB registration number
- The phone number previously linked to your profile
- Your profile code
- A new email address (must not have been used on JAMB before)
You’ll also sign a declaration authorizing the change.
3. Biometric Verification
To prevent impersonation, you’ll undergo fingerprint authentication at the CBT centre. This step is mandatory and ensures that only the rightful owner can update the profile.
4. Submission and Processing
The CBT staff will upload your completed form to the JAMB portal using their official credentials. JAMB will then review your request.
5. Email Verification
Once approved, JAMB will send a verification link or code to your new email. Follow the instructions to verify and activate your updated profile.
6. Portal Access Restored
After verification, you can:
- Reset your JAMB password
- Access your CAPS dashboard
- Print admission letters and results
- Receive future JAMB communications via your new email
Important Notes and Warnings
- Only JAMB-accredited CBT centres can process this recovery. Avoid cybercafés or third-party agents.
- Your new email must be unique—never used on any JAMB profile before.
- A ₦5,000 penalty fee applies for this service. It’s non-refundable and discourages misuse.
- This process is available for new 2026 UTME/DE candidates. Returning candidates should still use their original phone number if possible.
